Today 6th October 2023 we had a training on Disaster Management - (El-nino) conducted by Joseph K. Nyambura from Kenya Red Cross, we gained valuable insights into disaster management, particularly regarding the upcoming El Niño season predicted to start in October and intensify through November to December.

Potential Effects:
1. Waterborne diseases
2. Shortage of food
3. Relocations and floods

Here are some key mitigation measures we learned:

1. Ensure proper water drainage systems.
2. Clear accumulated trash to prevent blockage.
3. Stay warm with heavy clothes during cold spells.
4. Keep children away from standing water to prevent illness.
5. Drink clean water to avoid waterborne diseases.
6. Consider relocation if you live in hilly or riverbank areas.
